Home decoration > How much worth is one Icelandic Crown ?

The banks collapsed. The Icelandic Crown took a deep fall. That´s when I got the idea. I had to find the right yarn. I chose an expensive superfine merino pure wool that enhances the knit and purl motif. I knitted a gauge on needles 3 mm. It took me four hours on Photoshop to make a grind, adjust it to the gauge, chart the pattern, draw the circle and adapt it to ease the knitting. Pattern was not easy to follow and extra care was needed with the increases and decreases. It took six hours to complete the pattern and block. Then, I took pictures, wrote the text and edited to my website. In whatfollowed, the Crown was taken for sale at the National Museum of Iceland. I decided to knit no more than 5 coins, numbered 1 til 5, all in different colors. They were sewn on a plexiglass circle and hanged on the wall.

Superfine merino pure wool, plexiglass, hook, Ø 26 cm

Stockist : The Crown is exclusively for sale at the shop of the National Museum of Iceland.
