Life in Iceland was not easy in the days when knitted inserts in soft shoes were in common use. No colored yarn could be wasted and leftovers were highly suitable for knitting decorative inserts. Everyone liked to own something beautiful like a pair of inserts with roses.
A popular vintage style scarf and old Icelandic shoe insoles in a rose pattern - these were Hélène´s inspiration for knitting a lovely but practical scarf with roses. It is knitted in Icelandic intarsia (intarsia in garter stitch).
In the spirit of the old inserts, this pattern is free for you to knit a beautiful scarf for someone you lovePattern notes: You will need about one skein for main colors and yarn remnants for the roses. Needles 3,5 mm / US 4. Lenght to fit neck. Knitted in Icelandic intarsia: motif knitting in garter stitch. Check the SUPPORT section for helpful tutorials.
