This Narrow scarf with Icelandic roses is inspired by old knitted insoles that were used in sheep and fish skin shoes in Iceland. Striped inserts were used everyday whereas inserts decorated with roses were Sunday-best. They were made by women who were skilled at knitting because not everyone coyuld do the Icelandic intarsia (motif knitting).
This scarf or neck warmer can be wrapped around the neck in quite many ways. The roses are handknitted with Icelandic wool and the strips with a vast choice of fine merino wool and high quality fantasy yarns such as mohair, silk or lurex. Each scarf is unique.
Strips are about 75 cm x 6 cm.
