Icelandic rose pattern´s collection > Narrow scarves with Icelandic roses

This Narrow scarf with Icelandic roses is inspired by old knitted insoles that were used in sheep and fish skin shoes in Iceland. Striped inserts were used everyday whereas inserts decorated with for example eight-petal roses were Sunday-best. They were made by women who were skilled in knitting because not everyone could do the Icelandic intarsia (motif knitting in garter stitch).

The scarf is unusually narrow and can be wrapped around the neck in quite many ways. It will catch all the eyes no matter how.

Each scarf is unique. The roses are handknitted in Icelandic intarsia with Icelandic wool. Strips are handknitted with a vast choice of fine merino wool and high quality fantasy yarns, such as mohair, silk or lurex.

Strips are about 70 cm (27´6) x 6 cm (2´3) large.
