(English version below)

Áhyggjurnar þrífast ekki nema þúhugsir vel um þær,
ræktir þær af kostgæfni,
vökvir þær,
talir við þær.
Annars kemur kyrkingur í áhyggjurnar. Þærveslast upp
og deyja.
Og þyrnarnir á þeim verða ekki aðalmennilegum broddum,
nema þú hugsir vel um þær, kvölds ogmorgna,
finnir nærveru þeirra á daginn,
vaknir upp á nóttunni og gefir þeimbrjóst.

Worries do not thrive unless thou payest real attention tothem.
If thou wantest them to grow and sprout,
thou shouldest attend to them with sincere care,
water them,
talk to them,
or they will grow weak,
and might even die.
Their thorns will not become real spikes
unless thou takest good care of them, at least twice a day, morningand evening.
Thou hast to be sensitively aware of their presence all day long.
Thou hast to wake up during the night and breast-feed them.
