The essential group photo, yours truly third from the right

This is just a little selection of my photos from this tour and we will be setting up a bigger gallery later. These photos are taken just outside Landmannalaugar on our annual weekend trip in the middle of September. We sleep in huts both nights because of the freezing night temperatures.

We recommend visiting this area a bit earlier in the year because the weather gets unpredictable in September and the huts close down for the winter. It is the best time for berries though. You can see the trouble people are willing to go to to avoid taking their shoes of and getting their feet wet. The day before María missed the bus and cycled the whole way from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar in one go, something the rest of us wouldn´t even dream of trying in less than 2-3 days.
