New album out now!
September 7th 2008: The latest issue of french indiepop fanzine Anorak City features an in-depth interview with Dýrðin. More info on that over here.
German DJ Marc Meng recently remixed our song "Popp & Co.". This remix will be released on a box set from Skipping Stones Records this fall, to celebrate 5 years of New England Popfest!.
In other news, we've been in and out of studios recently recording some new songs, plus we're busy writing new ones.
Last but not least, Dýrðin is confirmed to play Iceland Airwaves in October. Voohoo!
Dýrðin are on their way to UK! We'll play two gigs, in Oxford on February 1st, and in London on February 2nd. The good people at Swiss Concrete organize the Oxford gig, and there we'll be accompanied by Stornoway, You and Me and Rowena Dugdale, the charismatic front woman of Santa Dog. In London Lostmusic Presents proudly presents Smokers Die Younger, Champion Kickboxer and us somewhere inbetween them. A fourth band may yet be added to the bill. |
Have a listen!
In other news, our album is now available from streaming in it's entirety on Last.fm.
November 20th 2007:
Iceland Airwaves treated us kindly this year, and rewarded our efforts with a stunning review on pitchforkmedia.com amongst others. We've tried to piece together the flurry of media activity which followed:|
Also, Wim van Hooste took a few pictures of our gig, which can be seen here.
25. October 2007: In November our not-so-distant relatives, Professor Pez from Bergen, Norway, will invade Iceland on their way to the New England Popfest. They'll be playing a gig in Organ, Reykjavik, along with us. These feisty norwegians play high-quality indiepop, and cite as their influence bands such as Deerhoof, My Bloody Valentine, Beach Boys and Sufjan Stevens. They've released two full-length albums so far, and a third is on it's way this fall, entitled "Hordaland". We look forward to rocking out with Petter Saetre, Fal Polkedal, Kåre Rambjør, Gro Rosland and Ingebor Revheim!
August 2. 2007:|
The Besties will land in Iceland on August 11th, and play in Paddy's in Keflavik on August 12th. On August 15th they'll play in Organ, Reykjavik, along with Dýrðin, Jan Mayen and Foreign Monkeys. This latter event is organized by Reykjavik Grapevine, and admission fee will be 500 ikr.
The Besties released their first album in 2006 on Skipping Stones Records, and we've had the pleasure of playing with them three times before, both in Northampton and New York City. We guarantee you'll have fun watching them, and they will too. Earlier this year they also released a "7 vinyl single on Hugpatch, a label that boasts the slogan "The world's tiniest record label". It might also be added that their CD, Singer, is available in Smekkleysa and 12 Tonar here in Reykjavik. Hope to see you there!
July 30. 2007:
Welcome to our new and vastly improved website. Latest news include the addition of a new keyboardist, Kolbrún Karlsdóttir, pictured here posing for the Reykjavik to Rotterdam festival which takes place this november. We are however not playing there this time around.|
A whole lot is happening however. On August 15th we'll get a visit from our friends and labelmates, The Besties, and we'll play with them in a new venue in downtown Reykjavik called Organ. They'll be arriving here fresh from touring USA, Sweden and UK. More on that later...
Also we're playing on August 9th with Maggi's former band, Tilburi. Rumour has it that Tilburi has improved considerably since Maggi quit the band.
